Living in Squamish / Sea to Sky corridor, the spring & summer months are when our homes are truly showing at their best. Here are five simple ways boost your curb appeal during the spring and summer, which is especially useful if you’re preparing a home for sale;
1. Refresh Landscaping
- Trim overgrown shrubs, mow the lawn regularly, and edge garden beds.
- Add seasonal flowers or potted plants for vibrant color and a polished look.
- Mulch beds to retain moisture and give a tidy appearance.
2. Paint or Clean the Front Door
- A freshly painted front door in a bold but tasteful color can act as a focal point.
- If painting isn’t needed, a good scrub and some polish on hardware can go a long way.
3. Update Outdoor Lighting
- Replace outdated fixtures with modern, energy-efficient options.
- Add pathway or garden lighting to highlight key areas and improve safety and ambiance.
4. Clean Windows and Power Wash Surfaces
- Sparkling windows enhance the home’s appearance from the outside and the inside.
- Power wash siding, driveways, and walkways to remove dirt and mildew.
5. Stage the Porch or Entry Area
- Add a new welcome mat, seasonal wreath, or stylish outdoor furniture.
- Keep it simple but inviting—this sets the tone for what’s inside.
Not every home has a garden, a front porch or a door at street level, however the above mentioned tools can be applied for townhouses and condo’s easily. Instead of mowing the lawn, you would steer your attention to adding some colourful plants to your balcony or window sills, adding some greenery throughout the home and improved lighting works perfectly in all spaces. Washing windows and doors applies to all.
The benefit of taking the time to properly prepare your home for sale typically results in more money, less time and less overall stress!
